Use CalendarLink with AI assistants (MCP)

Connect CalendarLink to an AI assistant such as Claude Code or Cursor, so it can look up and create events and collections for you.

CalendarLink has an MCP server (Model Context Protocol). With it, an AI assistant works in your account on your behalf. You type what you need, for example "Create an event for our webinar on 14 November from 15:00 to 16:00 in the Webinars collection", and the AI does the rest.

What the AI can do

The AI can:

  • View your organizations

  • View, create and edit collections

  • View your designs

  • View upcoming and past events

  • View an event, and create an event, with or without RSVP

The AI cannot:

  • Read contacts or RSVP registrations. For RSVPs it only sees the totals.

  • Edit events

  • Delete anything

The AI has the same permissions as you have in your team. If you are not allowed to create events, the AI cannot create them either.

Set up

1. Create a token

  1. Select your name at the top right, then API Tokens.

  2. Under Create API Token, enter a Name, for example the name of your AI tool.

  3. Tick the permission mcp:access.

  4. Select Create.

  5. Copy the token straight away. It is shown only once.

Existing tokens, for example for Zapier or Make, do not work for MCP. You need a token with mcp:access ticked. Store the token like a password.

2. Add the server to your AI tool

Add the CalendarLink MCP server with these details:

In Claude Code, run this command and replace your-token with your token:

claude mcp add --transport http calendarlink https://my.calendarlink.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer your-token"

In Cursor and other tools that support an MCP server over HTTP with your own headers, use the same URL and header.

Good to know

  • Token expiry: A token is valid for 90 days. Then create a new token and replace it in your AI tool.

  • No OAuth yet: The connection works with a token, not by signing in with OAuth. AI tools that only support OAuth, such as some connectors in the web versions of Claude and ChatGPT, do not work yet.

  • Timezone: Mention the timezone in your request. Otherwise the AI usually uses your organization's default timezone.

  • Your data: Event details the AI looks up go to the AI provider you chose, such as Anthropic or OpenAI. Contacts and RSVP registrations are not shared.

  • Logging: CalendarLink records which actions were done through MCP, for security and support. The content of your events is not stored in that log.
