Direct calendar links and iCal files

A direct calendar link skips the event page and sends people straight to one calendar. Use them behind your own buttons, in an email or in a chat message. They are available for Add to Calendar events, not for RSVP events.

Copy a link

  1. Open the event and go to the sharing options.

  2. Select Direct Calendar Links.

  3. Select the copy button next to the calendar you want.

The links

Every link follows the same pattern, with your event's code and the calendar at the end:

  • Google: google

  • Apple: apple

  • Yahoo: yahoo

  • Office 365: office365

  • Outlook (online): outlook

  • Outlook (desktop): outlook_offline

  • Microsoft Teams: teams

  • iCal file: ical

The event code is the last part of the event page link: for https://calendarlink.com/event/c42b9, it is c42b9.

What is in the iCal file

The ical link downloads a calendar file that works in most calendar apps. It contains:

  • the title, description, location and status;

  • the start and end time in UTC, which the calendar app converts to the reader's timezone;

  • the reminder from the event form, such as 30 minutes before.

The file has no organizer, so the calendar app decides what it shows in that place.

After you change the event

People who already added the event keep the version they saved. A change does not reach their calendar, unless they subscribed to the collection. See What happens when you change a shared event.
