Personalization and source tracking

Add details about the reader and your campaign to your event links. Personalization passes visitor details in the link, and source tracking shows in Analytics which campaign brought people in.

Add the parameters

  1. Open the event and scroll to Advanced below the widgets.

  2. Open Personalization and enter a value for First name, Last name or Email address.

  3. Open Source tracking and enter a Source, Medium, Campaign Name or Campaign ID.

  4. Copy the event link, button or widget you need.

The values you fill in are added to the links on the page: the event page link, the buttons and the direct calendar links.

The fields are not saved. Fill them in again each time you copy a link.

Use merge tags

In an email tool, enter the tool's own merge tag instead of a fixed value, such as *|FNAME|* or *|EMAIL|* in Mailchimp. The tool then puts in each reader's details when it sends the email.

We only use these details to improve the visitor's experience and do not store them.

What visitors notice

On an RSVP event, the email address from the link is filled in on the RSVP form, so the visitor does not have to type it.

With an email address in the link, the event page can also suggest the right calendar, for example Google for a Gmail address, when we recognize the email domain.

See the results

Source tracking shows up under Analytics, in the charts for campaign source, medium, name and ID. New visits appear there after about a day. See Analytics.
